Taina S. McField (preferred pronouns: she, her, hers) is Deputy Director of Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Community Innovators Lab (CoLab). In this capacity, she oversees program development, working to ensure strategic alignment and execution across CoLab’s diverse projects throughout the Americas in communities most impacted by the transatlantic slave trade. 

Before coming to MIT, Taina was a Program Officer at the Nathan Cummings Foundation for more than a decade where she led impactful change through portfolios focused on economic and racial justice, the environment, and religious traditions, and managed the Foundation’s Fellowship Program. Taina is an educator by training whose work is grounded in values of active listening, prioritizing community expertise, and the belief that transformation is possible.  Taina has worked as a consultant in the equity, arts, leadership and youth development arenas since 2000. She brings extensive experience in program development, strategic planning, operations, cultivating and supporting social justice organizations, and also working with large institutions, including universities.

Taina holds a BS from the University of Maryland at College Park where she earned her degree in Government and Politics and Family Studies. Taina McField has served in executive leadership positions for the Manhattan Chapter of Mocha Moms and the New York Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  When she’s not working toward the liberation of BIPOC communities, she enjoys cycling, reading, learning more about her Costa Rican and Honduran heritage, and pursuing joy and ease with her favorite humans.
