Serene Lau is happy to boomerang back to PEG after 10 years. During her time away, Serene developed expertise in user research and communications in the healthcare and design industries.  During her time at Kaiser Permanente, Serene worked with innovation and market research teams, focusing on understanding and designing for user needs.  Guided by empathy, storytelling, and the love for ethnographic interviews, Serene became a design thinking leader, facilitating workshops to help spread innovation culture at various levels of the organization.

Serene transitioned from design in healthcare to design strategy at Gensler, a global design firm.  There, she collaborated with clients to create functional and inspiring experiences, ranging from satisfied employees in a new workplace, to the calm and wonder-filled traveler at a newly renovated airport.

Serene continues to be guided by curiosity at PEG, asking questions and co-creating solutions with the goal of designing a more accessible and equitable experience for historically marginalized communities.
