Center for A New Economy

CNE is one of the most credible, influential and sought-after voices on Puerto Rico’s economy. Founded in 1998 as Puerto Rico’s first think tank, CNE has evolved into a powerful nonpartisan advocate on behalf of the island in policy circles as well as an important participant of diaspora and Latino groups in the US mainland.

Community Housing Partnership

Community Housing Partnership is the only San Francisco nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to providing permanent, supportive housing to formerly homeless individuals and families.

Community Housing Partnership pairs affordable housing with support services, employment preparation, job training, a transitional employment social enterprise, and community organizing activities. Together these services offer clients a direct pathway from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Community Housing Partnership utilizes safe, stable housing as a platform to deliver services to clients, which results in increased self-sufficiency. Community Housing Partnership owns, manages, or provides services at 13 buildings with over 1,000 units and has 222 units under development. Community Housing Partnership’s housing and services annually impact the lives of over 2,200 formerly homeless adults and children.

GSA Network is a national youth leadership organization that connects school-based Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) to each other and to community resources through peer support, leadership development, and training.

GSA Network supports young people in starting, strengthening, and sustaining GSAs and builds the capacity of GSAs to: (1) create safe environments in schools for students to support each other and learn about homophobia, transphobia, and other oppressions, (2) educate the school community about homophobia, transphobia, gender identity, and sexual orientation issues, and (3) fight discrimination, harassment, and violence in schools.

LEAD: An Initiative of Yale and Harvard Universities

The Council on African Studies partnered with the Institute for Research on African Women, Children and Culture (IRAWCC) to establish the Leadership Enterprise for African Development (LEAD).

Its goal is to contribute to the process of reform and revitalization in African countries by strengthening leadership and governance capacity in the public, business, and civil society sectors. LEAD looks to Africa for its leadership resources and will draw upon them to elucidate viable frameworks, models, and practices for effective governance. The institute engages Yale faculty and students with research opportunities, internships, and job placement possibilities throughout the continent.

The Community Innovators Lab (CoLab) is a center for planning and development within the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP). CoLab believes that community knowledge can drive powerful innovation and can help make markets an arena for supporting social justice. New American Leaders (NAL) is leading a movement for inclusive democracy by preparing first and second generation Americans to use their power and potential in elected office. NAL believes that our democracy is stronger when everyone is included and everyone participates. Unfortunately, our elected government, from City Council to Congress, does not reflect our country’s diverse population.

NAL is the only national, nonpartisan organization focused on bringing New Americans into the political process. They believe that when elected officials mirror the makeup of our nation, we achieve stronger communities, a more responsive government, and a robust democracy.

The New Venture Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity, supports innovative and effective public interest projects. East Bay College Access Network

The East Bay College Access Network was founded in 2011 with the East Bay Consortium, Centro Legal de la Raza, the East Oakland Youth Development Center and the Marcus Foster Education Fund.

The four nonprofits created the Access Network to address the crisis of college access and opportunity for youth in Oakland. As a new collaborative, the four founders chose to dedicate their first project to increasing the number of Oakland Unified graduates who apply for and receive financial aid.

Larkin Street Youth Services

Larkin Street was founded in 1984 by a group of local business owners, church members, and neighbors who were concerned by the rising number of young people engaging in risky behaviors on the streets of San Francisco.

With 25 comprehensive youth service programs located throughout San Francisco in over 15 sites, Larkin Street Youth Services is now an internationally recognized model successfully integrating housing, education, employment, and health services to get homeless and at-risk kids off the streets. Larkin Street provides youth between the ages of 12 and 24 with the help they need to rebuild their lives. Each year, more than 4,000 youth walk through our doors seeking help. We give them a place where they can feel safe; rebuild their sense of self-respect, trust, and hope; learn school, life, and job skills; and find the confidence to build a future.

Memphis Public Library and Information Center (MPLIC) operates the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library and 15 branches in Memphis neighborhoods that serve 652,050 city residents. All together, MPLIC manages 531,218 square feet of library space.

Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative

The Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative (NECC) was established in 2014 as a strategic initiative of the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. NECC was designed to provide back office and consulting services for early childhood development and care centers and in March 2015, was awarded a $2.6 million federal Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership grant.

NECC uses a shared services model to maximize efficiency, strengthen business practices, and ultimately, raise the quality of early childhood education programs. Shared services is a collaborative business model that reduces costs and allows organizations to focus on their stakeholders. It is a well-known fact that the cost of doing business for childcare providers makes it very difficult to provide high-quality services while maintaining back office integrity.

National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors

The National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) represents the nation’s chief state health agency staff who have programmatic responsibility for administering HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis health care, prevention, education, and supportive service programs funded by state and federal governments.

NASTAD is dedicated to reducing the incidence of HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis infections in the U.S. and its territories, providing comprehensive, compassionate, and high-quality care to all persons living with HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis, and ensuring responsible public policies. NASTAD provides national leadership to achieve these goals, and to educate about and advocate for the necessary federal funding to achieve them, as well as to promote communication between state and local health departments and HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis care and treatment programs. NASTAD supports and encourages the use of applied scientific knowledge and input from affected communities to guide the development of effective policies and programs.

Nurse Family Partnership

Nurse-Family Partnership helps transform the lives of vulnerable first-time moms and their babies.

Through ongoing home visits from registered nurses, low-income, first-time moms receive the care and support they need to have a healthy pregnancy, provide responsible and competent care for their children, and become more economically self-sufficient. From pregnancy until the child turns two years old, Nurse-Family Partnership Nurse Home Visitors form a much-needed, trusting relationship with the first-time moms, instilling confidence and empowering them to achieve a better life for their children – and themselves. An evidence-based community health program, Nurse-Family Partnership’s outcomes include long-term family improvements in health, education, and economic self-sufficiency. By helping to break the cycle of poverty, we play an important role in helping to improve the lives of society’s most vulnerable members, build stronger communities, and leave a positive impact on this and future generations.

Peer Health Exchange

Peer Health Exchange’s mission is to give teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions.

We do this by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education. Our vision is that, one day, all teens will have the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions.

San Francisco AIDS Foundation

Through education, advocacy, and direct services for prevention and care, we are confronting HIV in communities most vulnerable to the disease.

The mission of the foundation, established in 1982, is the radical reduction of new infections in San Francisco because we refuse to accept HIV as inevitable.

Washington, DC Department of Health

The HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD and TB Administration (HAHSTA) is the core District government agency to prevent HIV/AIDS, STDs, tuberculosis, and hepatitis; reduce transmission of the diseases; and provide care and treatment to persons with the diseases.

HAHSTA partners with health and community-based organizations to offer testing and counseling, prevention education and intervention, free condoms, medical support, free medication and insurance, housing, nutrition, personal care, emergency services, and direct services at its STD and TB clinics and more for residents of the District and the metropolitan region. HAHSTA administers the District’s budget for HIV/AIDS, STD, tuberculosis, and hepatitis programs, provides grants to service providers, monitors programs, and tracks the incidence of HIV, AIDS, STDs, tuberculosis, and hepatitis in the District of Columbia.
